It may not feel it at the moment, but over time having fun IS life changing. And at the end of the day, on either of those bikes, my DJ, and even the 'cross bike after a grind, I had fun. One tangible change for me is that I rarely need to stop and stretch my aging back while on the full suspension bike. I suppose as experience is gained the changes between things are lessened as your expectations are tuned a bit more to reality. I took it to trails in East Tennessee that I would not have hit on the hardtail. Life changing? Well, maybe? I have a bike I can and have taken to a bike park now. I still ride both bikes, split 60/40 to the full suspension, and love them both. The bouncy bottom outs of the short travel hardtail were replaced with speed and control. After I got more comfortable and started to push things a bit and hit some bigger features or take more direct lines is when the holy **** came back. The first few rides where I was feeling it out and riding it just like my past "XC" bikes were good, and I liked it, but no holy shits were had. This year I added a mid-travel full suspension trail bike to the mix. Three years later I picked up a plus wheelset and summer riding got better but hot holy **** better. On paper the frame was not wildly different and it only upped the travel 20mm to 100mm, but damn the rollover and traction of the 26 inch fat tires was insane. That first ride was one long holy **** moment. Eventually the HeadShok died again but this time it was not worth the effort to get parts so I picked up a Surly Wednesday. Specialized Daily - 2015 - 28 Zoll -Specialized Daily - 2015 - 28 Zoll. It was nothing special, but rode well and took a ton of abuse. I rode a Cannondale F4 from 2007 to 2018. They’re the same, just on a different bike. Just me riding the same old trails, just like I did every day for the past two years.ĭon’t get me wrong, the Fezzari is awesome, but in reality, my daily rides now are no different than my rides before. Still not doing races or doing awesome adventures. I’m still riding as much as before, but nothing in my life has changed. A very sensible 120/120 machine, perfect for epic rides and the occasional XC or marathon race. We’ll, two months ago, I finally got my “upgrade ” Fezzari Signal Peak. I just knew once I got a new dual suspension XC/DC machine I’d be flying! I’d be traveling to Pisgah on the weekends I’d become a fixture on the podium of the 50+ Cat 3 races, and life would be grand! In my mind, I couldn’t stop thinking about upgrading. I was having a ton of fun, getting in shape, losing weight, and really enjoying riding every day on my Fuse. I got a used Specialized Fuse and rode it close to 11,000 miles in 2 years, all the while spending hours online trying to decide on what my “next bike” was going to be. For most people, they’re probably adequate, though.I just got back into riding in March 2020 after about 20 years away. The brakes are a little weak, but they are traditional road calipers, so you could put stronger brakes or better pads if you get serious about whipping around town at speed. The steering is quick thanks to a very upright, steep headtube, and it was fun. Like all the other Globe bikes, the headbadge is empty and lets you put your own artwork in there. I rode an XL Daily 02 about six miles over rolling bike paths and it was pretty sweet. Could have just been loose, but we’d still like to see the wood offered, at least as an option. We take the worry out of daily living, so seniors can live the life they enjoy. Their product manager says they did it for eco reasons, but on a couple we rode there was a bit of rattling on one of them. Actually, for 2011, all Globe models are moving to aluminum trays to replace the better looking wood ones (our opinion). The handlebars are a bit bigger and taller, it keeps the full fenders, but uses a small rear rack with aluminum tray. The Daily 02 uses a traditional rear derailleur with a cuff protector chainring, and it upgrades to metal pedals.
